'Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven' (Matthew 5:19).

God is our Creator and has given us a set of rules to follow - His commandments. These commandments teach us how to love God and one another. So when we break even one of them, we violate God's command, and in truth we do not keep any of them. James 2:10 says, "Whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." When we break God's commandments, we are in fact, rebelling against the laws of God's government. We are all under obligation to heed and observe the laws God gives; even the least of His commandments must be received and honoured with respect and obedience. Just as Jesus reproved the teachers of Israel who taught the people themselves, but did not put it in practise; and were therefore unworthy of honour; (which 'he that both teaches and does shall have'). We too are being reproved if we teach but do not practise the law of God, and will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. However, when we regard the Word of God and teach and practise His commandments, we will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Let us not imitate the scribes and pharisees, who content themselves with instructing others of the law and precepts of God without practising them themselves. But let us imitate Jesus who even though never sinned; taught and practised the commandments of God, so we could learn from him and be great in the kingdom of heaven. The Jews taught that some commandments were more important, and that some were small and unimportant. But Christ shows that all of God's commandments are equally important. Let us aim to obey God, because disobedience leads to rebellion.

Have a wonderful day 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing' (Zephaniah 3 17). What an amazing and wonderful God we serve, who is mighty to save. The Lord our God is with us and is mighty to save. He will take great delight in us and will quiet us with his love, and also rejoice over us with singing. We didn't have to do anything for God to love us, he did because he created us and we are His. He created us and loves us just as we are. Even when we did not deserve it, the Lord took delight in us. What an awesome God! He is present in the midst of us, loving and caring for us. He protects and defend us; died to save us from sin, so we can have life and have it more abundant. He is mighty to save us from fears; our enemies and the bondage of sin and death. We all need a Saviour, Christ the Lord, who is the cure for our problems and the antidote to sin. Christ has already won ...
