Devotional - 08th Dec 2020

 'Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
(1 John 5:5).

Life without Christ is no life at all! You have to be born of the water and of the Spirit. It is Christ who made it possible for us to regain that which was lost in Eden, due to the entrance of sin. It is only through Christ that we can be overcomers, since we were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity. But those who are born of God, that is, believing by faith that Jesus is the Son of God will overcome the world. It was Christ who went to the Cross for us, and had victory over death and the grave, that we can experience eternal life in Him. When we are  overcomers, we will have victory over worldly sins and temptations; because Jesus, our Saviour has already defeated these powers of darkness. Christ was God in the flesh, who came down from heaven to redeem us from the bondage of sin and the clutches of Satan. Why? Because He loves us unconditionally and wants to save us. That is why Christ, the Son of God died such a horrible death that He didn't deserve, so we could live the life we deserved. What an awesome God! Christ victory is our victory. It is that victory, which is the faith that overcomes the world. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, so we may become one with him through the Spirit, and be able to partake of His victory over the world. We need to understand that we cannot do anything of ourselves, it is only Christ in us who gives us the strength and power to overcome. Let us thank God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have overcome because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Let us therefore continue to live by faith; that is, trusting and obeying God, and keep loving Him and each other until Jesus comes to take us home.

Devotional - 24th Aug 2020

 'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. 'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14).  God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts.  W e must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength.
