'Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake'
(Psalm 79:9).
Salvation is not earned, but is a gift freely given by God through Jesus Christ, to all who will accept it. God is the God of our salvation and our help comes him. When we are in trouble or in the sea of afflictions, we can cry out to God for help and he will sustain and enable us to bear out trials and afflictions, with patient endurance and without murmur. He will help and save us for the glory of His name. He will deliver us from our enemies and afflictions, and purge away our sins by the blood and sacrifice of Christ. He will pardon and forgive us for Christ's sake. We are privileged to have such a loving God, that even when He is angry with us, His aim is always to save us, because He is the God of our salvation. He doesn't do anything without warning us first. He warns us of what will happen if we are disobedient to him. So if we refuse to listen, then destruction may come upon us, according to what is fitting to him. However, when we are obedient and call upon Him, he will have mercy on us and save us. Israel was invaded and Jerusalem in ruins when the Psalmist penned these words. He was pleading to God to help them for his glory, to deliver and atone for their sins for His name's sake. It is Christ alone who can save us and on Whom our salvation depends. We of ourselves bring nothing of our own in any way to influence God to have mercy upon us. It is only God's love and grace of which we are able to plea before Him of his own glory. Let us desire to obtain favour of God and acknowledge the death of Christ who shed his precioud blood for us. If we make God the God of our salvation, we shall find Him to be so, because He never lies and cannot lie. He is our God and we can surely trust Him and place our confidence in Him.
Have a wonderful day and a blessed weekend
'But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you' (Matthew 6:33). The Lord is our Provider and knows all that we are in need of before we even ask. We do not need to worry or fret ourselves about what we shall eat or drink. Our Father in heaven will take care of these things we need. We are told by Jesus, 'To seek first the kingdom of God.' What does that mean? It means we should lean on, and trust in the grace of Jesus Christ. We should repent of our sins and have a desire to turn away from it. We should seek to put God first in our praise to Him, in our worship of Him, to put our total trust in Him and to rely on Him rather than ourselves or others. We need to seek Him first in our reassurance and acknowledging who He is and what He can do. We also need to seek God's righteousness by loving our neighbors and feeding the poor and destitute, seek justice for the vulnerable. We should put God's plan and
