'But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee' (John 11:22).
The story of Lazarus is one that is well known. This family were friends of Jesus, whom he loved dearly, and consisted of Martha, Mary and their brother Lazarus. The message of Lazarus sickness was sent to Jesus who didn't come straight away but arrived four days after Lazarus was dead and buried. Whilst in a conversation with his disciples, regarding Lazarus, Jesus alluded to the fact that Lazarus was asleep and he was going to Bethany to awake him. But the disciples misunderstood Jesus' statement and thought Lazarus was truly sleeping as normal. Then Jesus came straight our and said, "Lazarus is dead." When Jesus caught up with Martha, she was frustrated and grieved. Even though she was in this emotional state, she trusted Jesus to make things right. She said unto Him, "Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died, but I know, that even now whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee" (John11:21,22). She wasn't criticising Jesus for not being there, but affirming that she trust him to the utmost. Sometimes in our own life experiences, especially losing someone, we get angry with God, and some people even walked away from Him. When we lost a love one, our emotions can be all over the place. It seems as if you can't get pass that void it places in your heart of missing the person. But like Martha, in her grief, she was trusting God to take control of the situation. All we need to do is to trust Jesus, and go to him in faith with whatever our problems are and wait on his outcome. Jesus too had experience pain nd sufferings and can easily relate to us and our situations. He expressed his sorrow for their pain and wept for his friend, Lazarus. He brings comfort to them and all who will come to Him with their hurt and grief. Let us too like Jesus, reach out to others in their times of need. Let them know we are there and praying for them. Let us also pray with them and encourage them to trust God in these difficult times, that God hears and will answer their prayers. Let us trust that whatsoever Jesus asked of His Father, He will received; and what we asked of Christ, he promised to give us. When we ask, let us not doubt, but totally trust Christ.
Have a wonderful day
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
