Devotional - 22nd May 2020

'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14). 

 God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts. 

 We must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength. It is only through the empowering of the Holy Spirit that we can pursue holiness and be at peace with each other. Without the Holy Spirit leading us to live a life of holiness, we cannot see the Lord. It is only when we are walking in spirit and truth that we know the peace of God, and experience Hid holiness. God is holy and to pursue holiness we must act, not sit still and do nothing. Holiness needs cultivation, so we have to pursue it with all determination, with eagerness, and perseverance. To pursue holiness, we must have a right attitude towards God; because we cannot be holy apart from God, only His Spirit can enable us. 

 To pursue peace we must have a right attitude towards one another - avoid a quarrel, refrain from keeping malice, having a grudge, don't give cause for an offence. Today, purpose in your heart to pursue holiness, because without it you are stranger to God, not able to see Him. You have to separate yourself from all that is opposed to Him. You also need to be peaceful with all men as far as you possible can, but more importantly, pursuing holiness - God's righteousness. Without it you and I will not see the Lord.

Devotional - 14th Aug 2020

 'Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength' (Isaiah 26:4). In a time where there is so much confusion and uncertainty, God is calling us to trust Him always. He is our everlasting strength - the Rock of all ages, Jesus Christ our Lord. He is our refuge and strength in every trial we face and our everlasting Rock in every raging storms of our lives. He is our peace in the midst of perplexity and our Fortress in times of trouble who will cause all things to work together for good. All our blessings; temporal or spiritual comes from him, which give us cause to trust Him forever. Devotional - 14th July 2020

'Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead , yet shall he live;' (John 11:25). The story of Lazarus is a well known one in the Bible. He and his sisters Martha and Mary were friends of Jesus, who loved them. Lazarus became sick and died, and after four days Jesus raised him from the dead. This was more for benefits of those around including His disciples, so that they may truly believe that God had sent him.  He was speaking  with Martha who was more focused on the telling Jesus the problem, than demanding a specific solution. We too can be so focus on the problems we faced, that we forget that God is  much bigger that the problem and is our solution to them. When Jesus told her Lazarus would rise again, she understood it to mean he would live again someday.
