'I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance' (Luke 5:32).
The Jews in criticising Jesus for associating with Publicans and sinners, trusted in themselves and thought they were righteous than these people. Jesus response to their self-righteousness was, "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. It means we are all sinners in need of a Saviour and that there is none, not one who is righteous. It is only through the righteousness of Christ that we can become righteous. As sinners, we all need to repent of our sins to meet the standard of righteousness God requires. We must not see ourselves better than others, because Christ has paid the price for all of us - sinners. We ought to be thankful that God's love for us is so great that He gave up His only Son to die for us, that we can be saved. We should be thankful that Jesus came to call us by His grace to repentance, that we may be made the righteousness of God, by our faith in him. We must be grateful that in Christ we discover forgiveness and victory over sin. In Him we have access to the Father and gain eternal life. Let us not be like the Jews and Pharisees who rejects Christ as the Saviour and the grace he offers us - the grace of salvation by faith in Him. Christ came to save all, but as long as we become self-righteous, we are not saveable because we cannot hear and obey the call of Christ. It is only sinners that Christ came to call to repentance. We must be open to the Holy Spirit to hear Christ speaking to us and obey him, that we may have a change mind and life. Today, if you hear the voice of God speaking to you, harden not your heart, but be receptive to His call of grace and a knowledge of His truth.
Have a wonderful day and a bless weekend 🌹🌹
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
