'And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and  lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him' (Matthew 3:16).

Jesus the Son of God, Creator of the world, came to this earth as a babe. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born to earthly parents, Mary and Joseph. He was brought up in humble abode and worked as a carpenter with his father Joseph. When it was time to begin His ministry - the purpose for which He came, he sought his cousin John the Baptist along the Jordan river and request baptism. John was the forerunner for Jesus and was already preaching repentance to the people. After Jesus' baptism, as he came out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw God the Holy Spirit descended like a dove and came and rest upon him. Then the  voice of God the Father declaring that, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (vs 17). What a scene that must of been for all who were present and heard the voice of God!  We see here that all of the Godhead was present at this glorious event - God the Son, God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. This was confirmation and revelation of the work of  Christ for the salvation of man. John seeing the Spirit descending like a dove upon Jesus and hearing the voice of God, confirmed his faith in Jesus as the true Messiah. The One who lived amongst men, taught, preached, healed. As sinners, we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, by faith. We must be born again, that is, be baptised with water and by the Holy Spirit. Christ died on the Cross and was resurrected that we too may die to sin and resurrected on the newness of life in him. He is now judging all of us and will bring His reward when he returns the second time, as our King. Those who are faithful, to everlasting life and those unfaithful and unbelieving to everlasting damnation. The choice is ours. We have a wonderful hope in Jesus and of eternal life. We are set free from the powers of sin and death. Let us choose life and live everyday, no longer for ourselves but for our glorious Redeemer.

Have a Merry Christmas and a blessed weekend 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14).  God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts.  W e must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength. It is only through the empowering of the Holy Spirit that we can pursue holiness and be at peace with each other. Without the Holy Spirit leading us to live a life of ho...
