'But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?'
(1John 3:17).

God is love and he has placed his love in each of us, that we may truly love him and each other. The entrance of sin separates us from God, his heart was broken, but it did not stop him from loving us. It was this love that spun Him into action to give his only Son as a sacrifice on our behalf. Christ became a man and  the sin bearer for us all, dying in our place so we could have life eternal with God. However, we have a part to play in gaining eternal life, we have to accept Christ by faith and be born again of the water and the spirit. We have to truly love God, to know him. 1 John 4:8 says, "He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love." When we love God we will keep his commandments. It is He who will do his good work in us; so we can glorify him and be a blessing to others. We will display such love for our fellow men by not: stealing from or defrauding  them; we will never seek to take their lives, hate or bear false witness against them; we will not covet anything they possess. When we see others in need we will seek to attend to their needs as the spirit of God leads. Here John is saying to us, especially for those who have enough to meet their needs; that if you see your brother or sister in need and show no compassion toward them, but choose to be hard-hearted. How can God's love be in you? As believers we must realise that when God has blessed us, we must not keep our blessings to ourselves, but it behoves us to share with those who are in dire need. It is not possible to love God and refuse to help your brother. In Luke 3:11 John the Baptist taught the same principle of love. If someone possesses two shirts, he should give to a person who has none and the same if you have enough food, share with others who have none. We in our own strength, who is capable of sin, can be unloving, hard-hearted and selfish. But when we abide in Christ and he abides in us we will be like him. As believers we are to emulate Christ and do more then feel love, we must act on it unselfishly. Let us seek to have a fervent love for God and a compassionate love for others, as we seek to walk in spirit and truth, being led by the Holy Spirit. Let our actions and attitudes reflect the love of Christ.

Have a wonderful day 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing' (Zephaniah 3 17). What an amazing and wonderful God we serve, who is mighty to save. The Lord our God is with us and is mighty to save. He will take great delight in us and will quiet us with his love, and also rejoice over us with singing. We didn't have to do anything for God to love us, he did because he created us and we are His. He created us and loves us just as we are. Even when we did not deserve it, the Lord took delight in us. What an awesome God! He is present in the midst of us, loving and caring for us. He protects and defend us; died to save us from sin, so we can have life and have it more abundant. He is mighty to save us from fears; our enemies and the bondage of sin and death. We all need a Saviour, Christ the Lord, who is the cure for our problems and the antidote to sin. Christ has already won ...
