'...The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ' (John 1:17).
The moral law of God, the ten commandments, were first given to Adam. As a result of sin it was broken down and then men lost sight of it. However, after God delivered the Children of Israel through his servant Moses, he gave it in writing to Moses on Mount Sinai; to remind them and to point out man's duty to Him and their fellow men. There were also the ceremonial laws written by Moses but approved by God to help the people in their daily living and also was a type and shadow of Christ's deliverance for his people. It points them to Christ the Sacrificial lamb who would be slain for all generations, but it could not give grace; therefore opposed to grace and truth. Jesus came and fulfilled the law and their was no further need for the ceremonial law that points to him. They were nailed to the cross. But the moral law of God will stand forever. John was making a distinction of the ministry of Moses and Jesus. Moses through his ministry bring knowledge of the law to the people but the law points to Christ, the One who brings truth and grace. Jesus didn't just bring us truth, but also grace. He gave us a way out of the sin problem by providing a way for us to experience forgiveness. It is only God's grace, through faith in Christ that we can be saved and not of our good deeds. We are all broken and sinful and deserve to be punished by death. "The wages if sin is death." But Christ in his love for us, took that death, by shedding his blood on the Cross, and hereby granting us "The gift of God, which is eternal life." All who accept Christ's sacrifice of blood will be spared from the death we deserved, to life everlasting. Let us therefore accept this precious gift God has given us through the sacrifice of his Son, the Truth and Giver of grace.
Have a wonderful day 🌹🌹
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
