'And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God' (Luke 6:12).

Prayer is very important in any believer's life. It is an opportunity to communicate with God and spend time in His presence. It helps us to understand the heart of God and to develop a deeper and lasting relationship with him. The more we spend time in prayer with God and in His Word we will experience peace and psychological comfort that only He can give. Prayer can transform the heart and change the dynamics of our lives, as we allow the Holy Spirit to be take full control in that transformation. We see in the Scriptures where Jesus was constantly praying to the Father. His life was in total dependence, submission and communion with God, even though He was sinless. Jesus loves to go in solitary places to commune with God. The mountain was one such place where he could speak to the Father uninterrupted. He prays when he was making big decisions, such as the choosing of his twelve disciples and of the work He wanted them to accomplish. Christ also went to the Garden of Gethsemanes with his disciples when the appointed time came for him to die for us. He again went to pray privately to the Father, while he requested His  disciples pray with him. There are so many examples that Jesus set for us regarding prayer. He is the One who taught his disciples and us to pray. Therefore, it behoves us to pray to God in our daily lives and in all circumstances. Christ choose the mountain because it was a peaceful and solitary place to speak and listen to God. The time selected was due to the silent hours of the morning when there was calm and tranquility, there would be no interruption as he prayed all night in thanksgiving and supplication for what He wanted to accomplish the next day. We too may not be able to go into a literal mountain to pray, but we should set aside a private space and a quiet time, preferably in the early morning where there will be no interruption and seek God earnestly with sincerity of heart and pour out our soul to Him. Jesus as a man, was subject to the same sufferings as we do and therefore needed the divine blessings of His Father as he seeks divine direction. He sets the example for us to follow. When we are facing difficult situations and in making important and difficult decisions, we ought to seek the divine blessings and direction through prayer. Christ did it and so can we. Let us seek to pray and continue all night when it is necessary, praising and giving thanks to God in supplication and interceding for others. Praying in the early hours of the morning helps to collect our thoughts and lift our hearts unto God, preparing us for what lies ahead for the day. David said, "At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgment."
(Psalm 119:62). Let us appreciate communion with God at all times even at the break of dawn.

Have a wonderful day 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing' (Zephaniah 3 17). What an amazing and wonderful God we serve, who is mighty to save. The Lord our God is with us and is mighty to save. He will take great delight in us and will quiet us with his love, and also rejoice over us with singing. We didn't have to do anything for God to love us, he did because he created us and we are His. He created us and loves us just as we are. Even when we did not deserve it, the Lord took delight in us. What an awesome God! He is present in the midst of us, loving and caring for us. He protects and defend us; died to save us from sin, so we can have life and have it more abundant. He is mighty to save us from fears; our enemies and the bondage of sin and death. We all need a Saviour, Christ the Lord, who is the cure for our problems and the antidote to sin. Christ has already won ...
