'But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the King's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the Prince of eunuchs, that he might not defile himself' (Daniel 1:8).

Daniel was one of the elite young men taken captive from Judah to Babylon. He and his three friends knew God and had a personal relationship with Him, and even in a strange land they still seek to obey their God. The Scriptures said Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's food or his wine. He purposed in his heart to be faithful to God no matter what the cost. He and his friends knew it requires commitment and sacrifice and was prepared to do so. What have you purposed in your heart to do for God, regardless of the situation? David and his friends did not want to defile themselves by eating of the portion of the king's food because it was first offered up to idols and included flesh of unclean creatures, such as swine, and fat and blood of the animals.  This was forbidden by God and so they resolved in their minds not to partake of it. David did not just refuse, but with modesty and politeness he request of the eunuch and proposed something else that would not defile them. When we seek to obey and follow God, he will bring favour to us and help us in dire circumstances. Our relationship with God should touch every area of our life, including what we choose to eat. Daniel objected to the food from the king's table because he knew if he ate it, it would be a direct disobedience to the Word of God. He and his friends could have blame God for allowing such predicament to come upon them, because they were true and faithful to him. They could have easily said God had let them down, so they might as well do what they want. But no! They were committed to be obedient to the Living God, no matter what may befall them. What about you? Do you blame God when you feel he has let you down, or not fulfil your expectations? Some people blame God for everything. They left God because of such feelings. May be it is wise to take a page from Daniel and his friends fidelity to God. As a result of Daniel's courageous decision, God gave him favour and goodwill to those in authorities. God will not abandon those who stand for Him. Let us seek to entrust ourselves to God and he will certainly come through for us. Let us choose to follow God all the way and purpose in our hearts to be faithful.

Have a wonderful day 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing' (Zephaniah 3 17). What an amazing and wonderful God we serve, who is mighty to save. The Lord our God is with us and is mighty to save. He will take great delight in us and will quiet us with his love, and also rejoice over us with singing. We didn't have to do anything for God to love us, he did because he created us and we are His. He created us and loves us just as we are. Even when we did not deserve it, the Lord took delight in us. What an awesome God! He is present in the midst of us, loving and caring for us. He protects and defend us; died to save us from sin, so we can have life and have it more abundant. He is mighty to save us from fears; our enemies and the bondage of sin and death. We all need a Saviour, Christ the Lord, who is the cure for our problems and the antidote to sin. Christ has already won ...
