'Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil'
(Ephesians 6:11).
Paul is encouraging us to be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. To put on the whole armour of God, that we may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10,11). God has given his people, that is, those who trust and believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, tools to work with and to utilise for our good. Satan, that old serpent, the devil, is like a roaring lion seeking all he may devour. He has a plan to destroy us, and to let us doubt God's fidelity towards us. The battle is raging, and even though its between Jesus and Satan, as God's children we are caught up into it. Jesus has already won the battle with his victory at the cross. Satan knows his time is short on this earth and is making every effort to get as much people on his side for the great battle when Jesus return. We must understand that this battle is a spiritual one, where Satan is battling for our minds. Unless we are successfully clothe in all parts of the God's armour we will fail and not be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. As believers, we must pray and fully rely on God and the resources he has given us, so we will be able to stand firm against the attacks of the devil. We have to totally rely on Jesus, our Protector, Deliverer and Strong Tower, because we are involved in a spiritual warfare and not an earthly one. The Devil knows much more than we do, because He existed before us and was in heaven prior to his downfall. So he knows every trick in the book to get us on his side. However, Christ our Saviour knows even more than the devil, because He is Creator and the devil is no match for him. He crushed Satan at Calvary when he died and rose from the grave victoriously. And will finish Satan on His return to this earth, where he will be no more. He and sin will be eradicated forever. Therefore, we have no need to worry, but only trust and obey our Saviour who will lead us to eternity. Let us obey Jesus and utilise the tools we have been given to help in our fight against the schemes of the devil. Let us pray without ceasing and seek to work together with Christ as we strive to serve God. The battle is real, so we need to hold steadfast to Jesus, our Stronghold and He will see us through.
Have a wonderful day
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
