'I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you' (John 14:18).
Jesus is awesome and full of compassion. He loved his disciples and wanted them to understand about His death and resurrection; that He would be going away for a while. He knew they would be confused and devastated, so he hastened to comfort them. He said, 'Let not your heart be troubled: Ye believe in God, believe also in me...I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there ye may be also'
(John 14:1-3). He also promised another Comforter, that he can abide with them forever. What a merciful and loving Saviour! He went further to say he would not leave them comfortless; but will come to them. He was like a father to them, as He and the Father are one. Therefore, He promised not to leave them fatherless, or as an orphan. But will come to them. Speaking of His death and resurrection He said that in a little while the world would not see him no more, but they would, because He lived and they would live also. What wonderful promises! All these promises are relevant to us as believers today, they bring us hope and complete trust in God. If we believe in God, the same promises apply to us and one day we will see the Saviour again. He who promised is faithful and His Word is true. When we draw near to God, he will draw near to us and comfort us in our sufferings and time of trials. We ought to obey God's commands and live them out in our lives daily. When we do, it is evidence of our love for God and gratitude of his saving grace. Where sincere love is in the heart for Christ, there will be obedience. The bottom line is, we cannot say we love Christ and do not obey his commands. Christ, our loving Saviour, would not leave us fatherless, because we belong to him, therefore the Holy Spirit is given to support, comfort and strengthen us throughout our journey until Christ return to take us home forever, to the home He has prepared for us. Let us be faithful and trust God, to love Him and each other; to be co-labourers with Christ in winning souls for His kingdom, where we all will be able to spend eternity with Him. Jesus our High Priest is in heaven making intercession for his people before his Father. He is judging the whole world and will one day come back with His just rewards; for those who are for Him and those who are against him. He has sent the Holy Spirit to abide in us; to remind us of His presence with us and as a reminder of his promises. Christ didn't leave his disciples for long, when He promised that he would come to them. After he had risen he appeared to them to comfort and strengthen them. He promised to send the Comforter and he did, He will come again as promised, so let us all be ready to meet Him.
Have a wonderful day
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
