'Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long" (Proverbs 23:17).
We are ever to put the Lord first in every thing we do. Let our focus be on the Lord our God, Creator and Redeemer, rather than on sinners, even to envy them. David was tempted to envy the wicked, and remind us in Psalm 37:1 that we should not fret ourselves because of evil doers, or be envious against the workers of iniquity. The wicked will in time reap their reward and fall into mischief, as they hardened their hearts against God and His Word. Even, as Children of God, we are sometimes apt to be envious in our hearts, towards those who do not fear or reverence God; of their prosperity, pleasure and honour, which is not eternal. But we are admonished by King Solomon, that we are not to let our heart envy sinners: but to be in fear of the Lord all the day long. We must exercise our faith and trust in the Lord. We should not look to wicked and evil men who do not fear God; but keep our focus on the Lord and fear Him. We might have been envious of those who seem to be flourishing, but when we come to Jesus Christ, we should lay aside any envy, which actually hinder our spiritual growth. 1 Peter 2:1 says, "Wherefore lay aside all malice, and guile, and hypocrises, and envies and all evil speaking." If we harbour envy in our hearts towards others; maybe it's their popularity, their ministries, their jobs, their financial wealth, appearance, etc., and moreso be envious of simners who know not the Lord, and is under His wrath, we need to fervently go to God and ask him to take that envy away; because being envious is considered a sin. Let us heed the Word of God, and instead of envying sinners, we are admonished to be in the fear of the Lord all day long. Let our focus be on Jesus! He will give us all we need, when we are in need. He cares for us and will prosper and give us success as our needs be.
Have a wonderful day
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
