'And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds'
(Acts 19:18).

Paul had to deal with all types of people on his arrival in Ephesus.
There were some devout Christians, who were followers of John the Baptist, who were baptised with the baptism of repentance,  and had not received the Holy Spirit since they believed. There were the Jewish exorcists, who used the name of Jesus
to try and control demons (Acts 19:13). While there were still those who practice witchcraft.
Likewise, we in our time has come across different classes of people, who have various beliefs and practices contrary to that of God.
There are many people who loves in their horoscope, or they worship animate and inanimate things that God has created. They fail to understand that all God requires of them is to be in a saving relationship with Him and to trust and worship him alone.
There are many who believe, confess and follow Christ, at the preaching of Paul. They were amazed by his  authority over evil spirits and believed on Christ.
As followers of Christ, we have a responsibility to minister unto others, and seek to bring them to Christ.
When our lives reflect the love of Christ, as we present Him to those who are in darkness, or ignorant of the works of God, they will come and confess their sins, acknowledging what a wicked or evilous life they had led.
Salvation is of God and him alone. Even though  John Baptised with the baptism of repentance, it was not faith unto Salvation, through Christ.
The Gospel is about Salvation and Christ is indeed our salvation. We ought to sense the need for Him, and to get right with God. Even in our superstition God will stoop down and meet us, not because we are good, but in His mercy He may overlook our faults to meet a need. Let us therefore pursue the things that are of God and do what pleases Him.
He will perform miracles through his faithful one's in various ways, so others may believe on Him; they will come confessing their sins to the Just and Faithful Christ, who alone is able to save us.
Remember, God is never please with our superstitions but he will have mercy on us, because He is merciful and may overlook them to fulfil a need.

Have a wonderful day

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14).  God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts.  W e must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength. It is only through the empowering of the Holy Spirit that we can pursue holiness and be at peace with each other. Without the Holy Spirit leading us to live a life of ho...
