'I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly' (Psalm 85:8).
When we converse with the Lord God, it should be a natural thing to want to hear him speak to us. Whatever the request or petition, we should be still and quiet for a moment, wait and listen carefully to what his answer will be. God promises to hear and answer but we must believe he will.
A heart that is upright will want to hear the Lord, and receive his peace. The Lord will speak peace to his faithful people to whom the covenant is made; who He has set apart for himself and sanctified by His Spirit. We are warned not to turn again to folly. That is, we should not be ungrateful to the Lord our God, who has been merciful, pardon and speak peace to us.
When our souls are troubled and perplexed, we need the Lord. It is only He who can speak peace to our hearts. Therefore, we should believe that God hears us when we speak to Him, and be eager to listen to what he has to say concerning the matter.
It is important to note, that the Lord will not make peace to all, but to those who are faithful, his own people whom he means to make saints or have already done so. Those who are unfaithful, disobedient and reject the Word of God, cannot find true peace, which comes from the Lord.
We must not grieve the Holy Spirit and turn again to folly, lest the rod of God fall upon us. God can show gentleness on one hand and wrath on the other hand, but both comes from a place of love.
It is dangerous to turn again to folly. It depicts obstinacy and that of foolhardiness. It also brings separation from God.
For backsliders, this verse serves as a warning to hear what the Lord is saying to them, to draw back to their allegiance and at the same time inspiring them not to go further astray, but instead return to the Lord.
Let us pray; wait with patient endurance; hearken unto the Lord; and listen to Him as he speaks peace to us, that will humble us and fill our hearts with unspeakable joy.
Have a wonderful day
Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...
