Devotional - 19th May 2021

 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness' (Isaiah 41:10).

Fear is not of God but of the Devil. He is the true instigator of fear, because he loves when we are afraid, making us subject to him. His aim is for us to take our eyes off Jesus, so we mistrust him. We see in the Scriptures, when Peter was walking on water towards Jesus with his eyes on him, that he had confidence in the presence of Jesus, but when the winds got boisterous and he took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink. That's what the Devil wants us to do; to take our eyes off Jesus that we will be in constant fear. However, God is saying to you, "Look at me! Fear not - don't be afraid or scared, my presence is with you and will always be with you." He is encouraging you not to be dismayed or distress. Why? Because He is your God and he will strengthen you, and help you. Why not take God at his Word? We must trust the Word of God, so we can learn to please him. God knows and understands that we would struggle with fear and he cares about every fear we face each day. Our worries, anxieties, doubts, disappointments, discouragements and uncertainties. God is our stronghold and He send the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter in our times of need. He is reassuring us that we do not have to fear, for he will strengthen all those who trust in Him. Paul alluded to the fact that Christ strength is made perfect in our weakness. His strength is sufficient for us so we need not fear, and he is also our ever-present help in times of trouble. God's righteousness right hand is outstretched to embrace and comfort us at all times. When we seek to put our trust in God, we will never be afraid because we know Christ grace is sufficient for all our needs. Let us trust in the promises of God which are true and sure. If we have fears, we should acknowledge them and turn them over to Jesus. We need to trust God more, instead of our current situations, because they are not bigger than our God.   Trust in the All-sufficient God and allow him to take you by the hand and lead you.

Devotional - 24th Aug 2020

 'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. Devotional - 22nd May 2020

'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14).  God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts.  W e must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength.
