'A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger'
(Proverbs 15:1).

Words are powerful, they can make or break you. They can be life or death depending on how we use or perceive them. They have the ability to help, to heal, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate or humble us. The Bible says, "Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit'
(Proverbs 15:4). When someone is angry, a gentle and kind word can calm them, than words that will add fuel to their anger. The text for today, states that a soft (gentle)  answer turns away wrath, but grievous (harsh) words stir up anger. Every human being at some point in life experience both. However, it is how we react that makes the difference. Some people are able to control their actions toward the words, behaviour and speech of others, while others reacts in a negative way. Our words can help, as well as, heal. It can provide hope and encouragement. On the other hand, it can destroy and harm; discourage and tear down. As believers, our words should be spoken in grace and in love; in spirit and in truth. Instead of using our words to discourage, hurt, harm or stir up strife and anger; we should aim to bring peace, hope for those who are hopeless, encouragement, healing to the injured soul, those who are abused and hated. Let your words be filled with flavour of love, that will impact and influence the lives of others, in such a way, that it lifts their spirit and build solid relationships. When people become angry, notice how they usually speak things that wish they could take back. But words once spoken from your lips cannot be reversed, and has already done damage. Let us who are saved by grace through Christ follow his example, by saying and doing the things that brings honour and glory to God. As we seek to be like Jesus, let us ask the Holy Spirit to help us to be careful in our response to the words of others, so we do not promote anger; but respond with a soft and gentle answer, that we may spread wisdom and knowledge as we guard our speech and actions.

Have a wonderful day and a blessed weekend 🌹🌹

Devotional 'The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed' (Psalm 28:8). The Lord our God is the glory of our strength, and in His name we shall rejoice all the day. The Lord is our strength, and the saving strength of His anointed. It is through Christ our anointed that all our blessings come to us. Here we see David, who is a type of our Lord Jesus, praising God. What about you? Christ had done much for us and has achieved full salvation for us, therefore, praise Him! We, like Israel are encouraged that the Lord is our Strength and salvation. When we seek to be in a  relationship with God, He will protect us from our enemies and save us from the crutches of Satan. Just as how Satan attempts to destroy Christ many times, whilst he was on earth, God  saved him and will do the same for us. Christ died to save us all, but it is those who trust Him and have a saving relationship with him that will spend eternity with. He is our High Priest, and J...

'I protest by your rejoicing  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily' (1 Corinthians 15:31). Christ our Lord came and died for each and everyone to save us from the bondage of sin. He lived on this earth, ministered to the needs of all who He encountered; He was crucified, and resurrected and is now interceding for us, as our High Priest in Heaven. What if there was no resurrection? What would be the implications for God's people? The preaching of the gospel would be a lie, our faith would be worthless and we would all have remained in our sin. Paul is saying, there would be no cause to his dying daily, or for any one who believed and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour to die daily. Paul was expecting death at any time for Christ's sake. He was constantly in peril of his life, he encountered extreme sufferings and was beset with death. He was willing to die at anytime and in any way for Christ's sake. He did not count his life dear unto himself, but...

'Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord' (Hebrews 12:14).  God is a God of peace and of such wants His Children to seek peace between themselves and others. We are also encouraged to pursue a life of holiness, which can only happen through having a relationship with God and being empowered by the influence of the Holy Spirit. As we turn the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, fixing the thoughts of our minds on Him, that His peace, like a river flows into our heart, and His holiness becomes a reality in our life as we consecrate it to Him. We are called to be holy in our thoughts, in words and our deeds; but cannot achieve it by our own efforts.  W e must be consecrated in body, soul, and mind, but not of our own strength. It is only through the empowering of the Holy Spirit that we can pursue holiness and be at peace with each other. Without the Holy Spirit leading us to live a life of ho...
